Welcome to Vietnam! On arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, complete your visa formalities and collect your luggage. Please note that the visa letter and stamping fee are not included in the program cost. Once you’ve cleared immigration, your local guide will meet you at the arrival hall. Together with your private driver, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The drive into the city takes approximately one hour, passing urban outskirts, rice paddies, and motorbike-filled roads that offer a first glimpse of northern Vietnam’s energy.
Upon arrival at your hotel, check-in will be available from 2:00pm. You’re free to relax for the remainder of the day. Depending on your energy levels, you may like to explore the surrounding area on foot. The Old Quarter is a lively mix of colonial facades, hidden temples, narrow shopfronts, and local eateries serving everything from pho to egg coffee.
This evening is at your leisure, allowing time to unwind after your international flight or begin exploring the city at your own pace. If you’re feeling refreshed, consider a short walk to nearby Hoan Kiem Lake, a central landmark popular with locals for evening strolls and lakeside chats. The soft glow of lanterns and the hum of motorbikes create a distinct atmosphere that hints at the city’s unique rhythm.
You might also choose to browse the boutiques and handicraft shops in the Old Quarter’s narrow lanes, or stop at a roadside café for a traditional Vietnamese egg coffee or iced ca phe sua da. For dinner, Hanoi offers a wide range of options - from street food stalls serving steaming bowls of pho to elegant restaurants offering modern Vietnamese cuisine. Your guide can recommend a spot based on your preferences and energy level.

After breakfast, set out to experience Hanoi through a local lens. This full-day tour moves beyond the usual tourist route, offering fresh perspectives on the city’s culture and daily life while still including several iconic landmarks. Begin your morning at Hoan Kiem Lake, where residents gather at dawn for tai chi, group aerobics, and peaceful reflection. It’s a gentle and communal way to start the day, offering insight into the city’s everyday rhythm.
Next, step inside the lakeside Ngoc Son Temple before pausing at a nearby café for a traditional Vietnamese coffee. Choose between ca phe sua da, iced with sweetened milk, or the city’s famous egg coffee. Continue on foot through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where colonial buildings meet buzzing street life. Visit the historic Hoa Lo Prison, often known as the "Hanoi Hilton", followed by stops at B-52 Lake and the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university.
For lunch, enjoy bun cha, a much-loved Hanoi dish of grilled pork served with vermicelli noodles and fresh herbs. Afterward, explore a narrow residential street where trains pass just metres from homes. Walk along the tracks and take in this unique urban space that blends daily life with rail infrastructure. Conclude the afternoon with a glass of fresh local beer at a bia hoi corner, where locals gather in small plastic chairs to chat and unwind.
In the evening, attend a traditional water puppet performance at a local theatre. This expressive and colourful art form, unique to northern Vietnam, features wooden puppets dancing over water, accompanied by live musicians and folk narration. It’s a lively and distinctive introduction to the region’s storytelling traditions.
Dinner follows at one of Hanoi’s most iconic restaurants, where you’ll try Cha Ca La Vong - grilled fish marinated with turmeric and served with dill, vermicelli, and peanuts. This dish is a Hanoi institution, served at establishments that specialise in it alone. If preferred, your guide can suggest alternatives such as Vi Lai, a contemporary vegan restaurant, or Ngon, which offers a variety of traditional dishes from across Vietnam.

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Hanoi. Your driver will collect you for the transfer to Noi Bai International Airport, which takes approximately one hour depending on traffic. Enjoy the changing scenery as you leave behind the bustle of the Old Quarter and head toward the airport for your domestic flight south to Hue. On arrival at Hue’s airport, you’ll be met by your local guide and driver for a 30-minute transfer into the city.
Once a seat of imperial power and Buddhist learning, Hue remains one of Vietnam’s most atmospheric cities. With its tree-lined streets, crumbling citadels, and slow pace, it offers a distinct contrast to Hanoi’s high-energy buzz. After checking in at your hotel and taking some time to rest, your evening introduces you to the quieter side of Hue life.
Later in the day, set off on a relaxed culinary journey with your guide. Begin with a short language lesson in “survival Vietnamese” and an introduction to Hue’s unique cuisine, known for its refined presentation and Buddhist influences. Your first stop is a peaceful vegetarian restaurant, where the flavours and visual style reflect the traditions of Hue’s pagodas and temple kitchens.
Then climb aboard a cyclo - Vietnam’s iconic three-wheeled rickshaw - and slowly ride through less-travelled streets. As the evening sets in, the pace slows, and the city’s quieter charm reveals itself. Your guide will point out family-run food stalls tucked into corners and tree-lined lanes. Stop to sample classic street snacks like banh khoai (a crisp savoury pancake) or lemongrass pork skewers, served fresh from the grill and eaten with your hands as locals do.
End your evening at a cosy café known for its local specialty drinks, where you’ll unwind with a refreshing beverage and learn more about Hue’s food culture and social customs. If you’re feeling adventurous, try one of Hue’s colourful sweet soups - a playful and unexpected way to finish a relaxed night of discovery.
-
After breakfast, set out on a memorable exploration of Hue, guided by the stories and insights of local residents. This immersive experience reveals a more personal side of the city, offering glimpses into childhoods shaped by conflict, family traditions, and Hue’s longstanding connection to art, music, and culture. You’ll walk through quiet lanes and residential areas often missed by tourists, where the past is still very much present in daily life.
Later in the morning, board a small boat for a peaceful journey along the Perfume River. As you float past riverbanks lined with gardens and village homes, you’ll stop to visit the bronze casting workshops of Phuong Duc, a craft that has been part of Hue’s identity for generations. Learn how this specialised metalwork is still practiced today and see the tools and techniques used to create ceremonial urns, statues, and gongs.
For lunch, enjoy a simple and authentic meal at a quiet spot overlooking the outer walls of the Imperial City. The setting offers a break from the crowds and a chance to reflect on the morning’s discoveries. In the afternoon, step into Vietnam’s royal past with a guided visit to the Imperial City itself. Walk through grand gates, tiled courtyards, and faded palaces as your guide explains the significance of this once-powerful seat of the Nguyen dynasty. As a final highlight, meet a princess descended from the royal family, who will share personal stories and her perspective on the legacy of Vietnam’s last monarchy.
After the tour, you’ll depart for Hoi An by private vehicle. The journey takes approximately three hours and follows National Highway 1, which winds through striking mountain passes and coastal landscapes. The most dramatic section is the Hai Van Pass, a scenic stretch of road that once divided the ancient kingdoms of Dại Viet and Champa. This natural boundary also separates Vietnam’s northern and southern climates.
As you ascend the pass, pause for a photo stop overlooking Lang Co beach, a stunning curve of white sand backed by lagoons and mountains. It’s a peaceful fishing area and one of the most scenic viewpoints in central Vietnam. Continue on to Hoi An and check in to your hotel upon arrival.
-
After breakfast, meet your guide at your hotel and begin your walking tour of Hoi An. The day starts at the Central Market, where the early morning is full of life. Vendors are busy arranging fresh produce, seafood, and fragrant herbs, while locals do their daily shopping. Arriving early allows you to witness this energy before the crowds arrive and offers an authentic glimpse into the town’s daily routine.
From the market, continue on foot through a network of narrow laneways lined with small workshops and traditional homes. Your guide will introduce you to local artisans and share stories about their trades, from wood carving to tailoring. These quiet backstreets reveal a more personal side of Hoi An, where pride in craftsmanship is visible in every detail. Locals are warm and welcoming, often stopping for a chat or to share stories of their family-run businesses.
Pause for a short break at a shaded veranda overlooking the Thu Bon River. Watch the gentle movement of fishing boats and small tour vessels as you enjoy a refreshing drink. It’s a chance to slow down and take in the atmosphere, with water views that reflect the town’s maritime history and relaxed pace.
Your walk continues through the UNESCO-listed old town. Along the way, your guide will point out significant buildings and explain how Hoi An became a cultural crossroads for traders from China, Japan, and Europe. Pass over the famous Japanese Covered Bridge, a symbol of the town and a striking example of its architectural heritage.
Conclude the morning with a visit to a local family’s home, where you’ll be invited to learn the traditional art of lantern making. Guided by your hosts, you’ll create your own handmade lantern to take with you, a lasting reminder of your time in Hoi An.
-
After breakfast, meet your guide and driver for your transfer to the airport. The journey from Hoi An to Danang Airport takes around 30 minutes and passes through a mix of residential streets and scenic coastline. From Danang, take your domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest and most energetic metropolis. On arrival, your local guide will greet you at the airport and escort you by private vehicle to your hotel in the city centre. The drive into central Saigon takes approximately one hour, offering a first glimpse of the city’s lively street scenes and rapid pace.
Later in the day, set out for a half-day city tour that introduces you to Ho Chi Minh City’s complex history and layered identity. Begin at the Reunification Palace, the former presidential residence of South Vietnam and a key site during the events of 1975. Continue to Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office, two prominent examples of French colonial architecture that stand in contrast to the city’s modern growth. As you explore, your guide will share how Saigon has developed into a vibrant hub where Buddhist temples, Catholic churches, street vendors, and glass skyscrapers coexist.
Next, visit the War Remnants Museum, which presents a sobering but important look at the Vietnam War through photographs, exhibits, and preserved military equipment. This museum focuses largely on the American phase of the war and is one of the most visited sites in the country. After the tour, return to your hotel to rest before the evening’s culinary adventure.
At 5:00pm, meet your guide and driver once more for a street food tour through some of Saigon’s most flavourful neighbourhoods. Begin near the striking pink facade of Tan Dinh Church and wander through the adjacent market. This area is popular with locals and offers a rich variety of street food in a casual, unpolished setting. Sample crab soup (sup cua) and banh xeo, a crisp rice flour pancake filled with pork, shrimp, and bean sprouts.
Continue to a small local restaurant to try freshly rolled spring rolls and bo la lot, a southern speciality made from minced beef wrapped in wild betel leaf and grilled. The tour finishes at a Vietnamese café known for its tofu pudding and relaxed ambiance, often accompanied by live acoustic music. After dessert, return to your hotel, full from a night of flavours and stories from Saigon’s streets.
-
This morning, depart Ho Chi Minh City for a full-day excursion to Ben Tre, located in the heart of the Mekong Delta. The drive takes approximately two and a half hours, travelling through a patchwork of rice fields, small towns, and canals that define the region. On arrival, make your first stop at My Long Market. This lively riverside market is a great place to observe daily life as vendors sort and sell fresh produce, seafood, and spices. You’ll also see local women preparing rice paper sheets - one of the Mekong’s culinary staples - using traditional techniques passed down through generations.
Next, board a small boat to begin your journey along the waterways of the Mekong. Cruise through narrow canals shaded by overhanging coconut palms, and take in the peaceful scenes of village life along the riverbanks. Your first stop is a farmer’s home, where you’ll see how coconut jam is made from scratch. Enjoy a cup of tea paired with this sweet preserve while chatting with your hosts in the quiet courtyard.
Continue by xe loi, a motorised cart used for short village journeys. Ride through quiet back roads, passing fruit orchards and open-fronted homes. Stop at a small workshop to learn about coconut processing, a vital part of the local economy. Here, skilled workers transform every part of the coconut into useful products, from rope to candy. Along the way, take the opportunity to speak with residents and gain a deeper understanding of daily life in the Delta.
Later, switch to a wooden rowboat for a tranquil glide through shaded canals. The narrow waterways, framed by thick vegetation and still reflections, offer an ideal moment for photography or quiet reflection. Around midday, enjoy a relaxed lunch at a riverside restaurant, where you’ll be served a spread of regional dishes using fresh ingredients sourced from the surrounding farms and rivers.
After lunch, return to your boat for a short cruise back toward Ben Tre town. En route, stop to visit a traditional brick kiln, where bricks are still handcrafted using age-old techniques. It’s a final glimpse into the region’s mix of agriculture and artisanal industry. From here, your driver will meet you for the return journey to Ho Chi Minh City.

Enjoy a leisurely final morning in Ho Chi Minh City. Depending on your flight time, you may like to take a short walk near your hotel, browse local boutiques, or savour one last Vietnamese coffee at a nearby café. This is a good time to pick up any last-minute gifts or souvenirs, or simply soak in the city’s atmosphere before your journey home.
Hotel check-out is at 12:00pm, but if your flight departs later in the day, your hotel may be able to store your luggage while you enjoy a few more hours in the city. Your guide and driver will arrive approximately three hours before your scheduled departure to escort you to the airport.
